Crop Physiology & Crop Modeling

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Agronomy at K-State University, working on crop physiology and modeling projects. My area of interest is the study of environmental, genetic, and management drivers that determine yield and quality in grain crops.

In 2015 I earned my BS degree in Agronomy from the University of Buenos Aires. Then I did my doctoral studies at the same University, analyzing the impact of night temperature increase on wheat yield and quality. My thesis focused on evaluating the effect of warmer nights under contrasting conditions of resource availability (i.e., water and nitrogen) and plant density as possible management strategies to reduce the impact of temperature increases.

Also, I work as a teaching assistant in grain production classes of undergraduate courses at the School of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires.

My name is Ana Carcedo. I’m a post-doctoral researcher in the KSU Crops team. I’ve been working at modeling and simulation, mainly with APSIM model. My main goal is to develop frameworks that have an impact on the farmer’s labor. With this in mind, crop ecophysiology and management, are the key topics I’m interested in.

I got my B.S. degree in agronomy from the University of Rosario in 2015, the same institution where I did my doctoral thesis, and also worked as a professor teaching soybean and sunflower crop management in undergrad courses. While doing my thesis I provided the sorghum farmers with crop management strategies that fitted their particular environment and made more efficient use of resources. I’m excited to have the opportunity to be working in this great team and to collaborate on projects regarding crop management and modeling.

I am a post-doctoral researcher in Ciampitti Lab at Kansas State University. Currently, I am working on crop modeling and data analysis in different projects.

I graduated in Agronomy at the University of Buenos Aires in 2016 and started my Ph.D. in agricultural sciences. My thesis focused on determining yield and grain protein gaps in malting barley, analyzing nitrogen and sulfur partitioning and remobilization to grains, and evaluating grain nitrogen and sulfur concentration as a determinant of malting quality.
In addition, I was a teaching assistant in an undergraduate course related to soil fertility and crop fertilization.
